Paula is a senior majoring in Radio/TV/Film with minors in Environmental Policy and Business. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and deeply misses Wawa hoagies. As Co-President of Studio 22, she hopes to foster a positive student film community and provide more opportunities for Northwestern’s incredible student filmmakers. Paula plans to pursue a career in the film industry after graduation, and she is particularly interested in producing. In her free time, she enjoys watching cat videos, pretending to study at coffee shops, and ranting about climate change.
A LA native, Sarah came to Northwestern to study film while toughening up with the cold before eventually moving back. Alongside being a senior majoring in RTVF, Sarah hopes to inform her work through her second major in African American Studies. As the Co-President for Studio 22, Sarah hopes to help students's visions come to life and strengthen the RTVF community through providing on-campus resources and support for students. She's known as a movie addict, and if you're working in the film industry, you should definitely hire this woman who spends her Tuesdays at the Evanston Cinemark. In her free time, Sarah likes to spill coffee on herself, see if she can make it to Norris in 5 minutes from anywhere in Evanston, and send emails while watching Netflix.
Adam is a Radio/TV/Film senior from Akron, Ohio. As Production Coordinator, Adam hopes to help Directors and DPs of S22 films fulfill their creative vision within the context of student film. He has had experience working on commercial sets and serving as cinematographer on several films at Northwestern, and he hopes to pass on the things he's learned onto newer filmmakers in RTVF. When he's not on set, Adam enjoys cooking, photography, discovering new music, and stand-up comedy. After graduating, Adam plans to pursue a career as a Director of Photography in Los Angeles.
Owen is a Sophomore from Belmont, MA, but he loves annoying his friends by mentioning that he lived in Prague. A die hard Boston sports fan, he's not embarrassed to admit the Patriots and Red Sox have made him cry on multiple occasions. Owen is an RTVF and Economics double major who has quickly discovered that saying, "I'm an Econ major" in the RTVF community translates to "he can do numbers." As Finance Chair, he is excited to work with filmmakers on their fiscal responsibility and to give them money to make their dreams come true. In his free time, Owen loves to free write, walk around Chicago, and "study" excessive amounts of TV for his dream job as a showrunner.
Meezahn is a senior majoring in Radio/TV/Film and Sociology. She absolutely loves producing films due to the fast-paced, collaborative and often bizarre challenges that come up throughout the production process. As film manager, she is excited to be working with Studio 22 producers and directors to advise and proactively problem solve in order to create wonderful production experiences and films. Besides her interest in production, Meezahn spends her time playing volleyball and volunteering in the Evanston community with senior citizens. Meezahn really loves spending time with elderly folk and has incorporated a character over the age of 70 in every script she's written so far... After Northwestern, Meezahn hopes to get into documentary work in order to incorporate her love of sociological research to the creative and exhilarating process of creating film!
Public Relations Chairs
Sydney is a senior majoring in Radio/TV/Film and double-minoring in Business Institutions and Chinese. Although she grew up in San Diego, CA, her favorite fun fact is that she was born at Northwestern Hospital. As a PR chair, Sydney is excited to solidify the Studio 22 brand and increase awareness across campus. After graduation, she plans to return to the west coast (40% because she hates cold weather, 60% because she loves entertainment) to pursue a career in the film/television industry. When she's not creating a graphic or aggressively posting on social media for Studio 22, Sydney can be found carrying film equipment, spiking volleyballs, or drinking boba tea.
Lydia is a senior majoring in Theatre and Political Science, with a minor in Film & Media Studies. As Public Relations Co-Chair, she is excited to work with Sydney to help develop, shape, and spread the voice of Studio 22. She's always looking for ways to flex her novice Canva skills and promote artists on campus, and hopes that this position will give her the chance to do that. After she graduates, her life instantaneously becomes a vague void of possibilities and confusion! She hopes, however, to somehow carve a path through the world of feature development, advance her Leftist political views, fall in love, and maybe even do all those things at once. When she's not in class or thinking about Studio 22, Lydia enjoys going to the movies, watching vegan cooking videos while eating icecream, and laughter.
Script Development Chairs
Ariella is a junior RTVF major. She was raised between Karachi, Pakistan and Midwestern America #identitycrisis. She is passionate about working with scripts to help writers be able to tell a diverse array of stories and is excited to work with Michael to workshop scripts and host weekly writer’s circles. When she is not working with Studio 22, Ariella is trying to find someone to get ice cream with her. But she is completely fine with going herself.
Michael is a senior studying RTVF and Creative Writing, and is interested in being the Showrunner of his own dramedy one day. He is passionate about being one of the Script Development Co-Chairs because he finds that the script is the heart and soul of every film. He's excited about working With Ariella to help people tell the story that they want to tell, and generating compelling stories that make everyone feel less alone. When he is not working with Studio 22, Michael is eating out of a tub of goldfish and that is it. There is nothing else that he is doing. That or texting Mega about local gossip.
Education and Accountability Chair
Mega was raised in Indiana despite how off-brand that is, but somethings can't be helped. She is an RTVF as well as Creative Non-Fiction major because what's better than being double poor but knowing how to spot a comma splice. Mega's role on the board is to make sure people are aware of the implications of the work that they put into the world. She also ensures that the department is aware of the demographic of students that make up film community so they can accommodate the different needs based off of the different kinds of people. So basically, holding everything together. As usual. When she's not doing this, she's making fire trillers, pretending to know what avant-garde means, or playing volleyball with PR Co-Chair, Sydney, and Film Manager, Meezahn. One time, she reportedly broke Meezahn's finger during an intense game.
Gabby is an RTVF sophomore who is also studying Psychology and Sociology. She hopes to one day be an actress in a drama or comedy that she has written. Gabby can’t get enough of psychological thrillers and wants to write a few of her own. Her main idols in the industry are Issa Rae, Lee Daniels, and Jordan Peele, but the list of Black stars whom she loves goes on. As Industry Co-Chair, Gabby hopes to enrich the TV and film loving community by bringing in inspiring professionals, hosting workshops, and scheduling fun trips. She loves fashion, music, and of course TV shows and Films. She laughs at pretty much everything, even if it’s not intentional. So tell her a joke and even if it’s bad you won’t know because she’s laughing at how corny it was.
Growing up in Summit, New Jersey, Adam Present didn’t discover his love for filmmaking until his high school friend, who had a crush on a girl taking a film class, convinced him to take it with him too. A junior RTVF major also studying Integrated Marketing and Communications, Adam wants to have a career writing and directing narrative films, but right now is a professional at deflecting questions from adults about whether he’ll one day move to LA. As Industry Co-Chair he hopes to connect with Chicago-based alumni and filmmakers, and increase the presence of Northwestern films at festivals across the country. Adam also competes on NU’s club water polo and swim teams. He spends his free time watching all sorts of films and being aggressively average at pickup sports.
Maggie is a sophomore RTVF major born and raised in NYC, and she will happily debate the merits of a NYC slice of pizza with any Chicago native. She discovered her love of filmmaking in ninth grade when she made her first short horror film, which she shot at her older sister's college vegan house in Austin, TX. As Community Engagement Co-Chair, Maggie hopes to get Northwestern undergraduates excited and involved in all the amazing work Studio 22 does to support student filmmakers. Maggie is also involved in several student comedy groups on campus and if you ever see her walking around there is a 99% chance she will be holding an iced coffee (even in subzero temperatures).
Kinsey is a junior majoring in Radio/TV/Film and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. On campus, she is a member of Northwestern’s club softball team and is a writer for The Blackout. If all goes well, she hopes to one day be a writer for sitcoms and late night shows. As Community Engagement co-chair with Maggie, she hopes to expand the presence of Studio 22 at Northwestern and encourage people from different majors and backgrounds to get involved in film on campus. In her free time, Kinsey does crossword puzzles, reads celebrity memoirs, and forms strong, unwavering opinions on TV shows, both those she has and has not watched. On top of all of that, she’s been told that she’s a pleasure to have in class. Now, on to engage the community.
